Ceremony ends cleanup at WTC

With the peal of a Fire Dept. bell and the departure of an empty stretcher to mark the missing, Sept. 11's unspeakable horror at the World Trade Center was remembered in a ceremony without words. The solemn service began with a bell sounding out the 5-5-5-5 fire code in memory of 343 dead firefighters. A flatbed truck carrying the trade center's last steel beam drove up the ramp.

The Sept. 11 victims fund will probably give money to some gay partners of men and women who died in the attack. There are 22 known gay surviving partners of attack victims.
