Pricewaterhouse group files IPO
PricewaterhouseCoopers will spin off its tech consulting unit, PWCC, which employs 32,000. The move comes amid harsh criticism of the accounting industry after the Enron collapse. Previously, Andersen spun off Accenture, and KPMG its KPMG Consulting unit.
Andersen settlement talks failing
Arthur Andersen and lawyers for investors suing the firm gave up on trying to settle claims related to Enron's collapse. The parties had agreed to a $300 mil settlement for shareholders and creditors against Andersen. But parties could not agree on how to split that up.
