Finding Room For Name Change
What's in a name? A lot, if you're the company that used to be called Hotel Reservations Network Inc.
HRN, one of the Net's biggest sellers of discount hotel rooms, recently rebranded all of its Web sites under the name Hotels.com.
Now the firm, which had nearly $166 million in sales last quarter, is going further: As of last week, its new company name is Hotels.com. (See related story, page A6.)
The step solves another nagging problem. Not only did HRN have a long corporate moniker, but its Web sites included such awkward addresses as 180096hotel.com, allluxuryhotels.com and hoteldis-count.com.
Now everything, including the company, will be branded under Hotels.com.
