Goldman falls on SEC charge talk
Goldman Sachs slipped 2% on reports that it could be charged with securities fraud relating to information it got about the Treasury's plan to stop selling 30-year bonds before the news was publicly announced. The SEC will tell the investment bank it will recommend civil charges, a source said.
J.P. Morgan Chase to pay $125 mil
The U.S. bank will pay Sumitomo for its alleged role in a scandal in which a Sumitomo copper trader lost $2.6 bil in '99. Under the deal, Sumitomo will drop its suits against J.P. Morgan.
