The market finished mixed Monday in a wildly swinging session after the Thanksgiving holiday. The S&P 500 rose as much as 1.9% intraday, but closed down 0.2%. The Dow industrial average gave up 0.4%. But the S&P MidCap 400 index gained 0.5%.
Pre-Paid Legal Services also got whipped around, getting as high as 30.49 but ending off 92 cents at 27.73. Volume catapulted three times its 50-day average of 451,000 shares. The stock, featured in the WebLink chart and Stock Checkup analysis on investors.com Friday, is still barely above its pivot point of 27.60.
Sealed Air pulled back 1.56 to 36.64 on four times its average volume. The maker of various packaging products zoomed up 54% on heavy trade Friday on news that it will settle asbestos-related claims related to its 1998 buyout of W.R. Grace & Co.'s Cryovac packaging business.
Johnson & Johnson fell 1.32 to 55.70 on nearly double its average volume. The Dow component had found support at its 50-day moving average over the past two months, but fell below the line on Nov. 26. It's working on an eight-month base and is 15% off its high.
