Cisco widens telecom gear lead
It grabbed 15.3% market share in Q3 on $3.84 bil in telecom gear sales, says Synergy Research. It was the third straight quarter at No. 1 and the fifth straight share gain for the firm. Cisco's lead over No. 2 Siemens, which had 11%, is its biggest yet. But industry sales fell 31% vs. Q3 '01 to a four-year low. Ericsson was No. 3 at 10.1%, followed by Nortel at 8.7% and Alcatel at 8.6%.
