Free Trade Area opponents meet
Delegates at the anti-free trade conference, held in Havana, said nations planning to join a proposed Free Trade Area for the Americas should hold referendums. President Bush hopes to establish an FTAA by '05. Cuba's Fidel Castro said FTAA is a bid by the U.S. to economically "annex" Latin American countries.
** M2 money climbed $30.8 bil to $5.829 tril in the week ended Nov. 18. M1 rose $4.6 bil to $1.1973 tril, and M3 jumped $95.7 bil to $8.5123.
Canadian Q3 GDP growth slows
Canada, which had outperformed the rest of the G-7 in recent quarters, said GDP growth slowed to an annual rate of 3.1% from Q2's 4.4%. The U.S. grew at a 4% pace in Q3. Economists said the data will likely encourage the Bank of Canada to leave interest rates alone Tuesday.
Production down, joblessness up
