The defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots weren't the only winners of this season's opening game at Gillette Stadium, where they trounced the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-14.
The new stadium also was home to a dazzling electronic display system -- what we used to call a scoreboard -- supplied and installed by Daktronics Inc. The 65,000 fans on hand could see live-action video and replays on the system, as well as animation, player information and rotating ad messages.
The deal made Daktronics $7 million richer. And while the Patriots have since lost a handful of games, Daktronics is on a solid winning streak.
