Techs Lead Stocks Higher Again
1The Nasdaq surged 2.6% on sharply heavier volume. It was up as much as 4.4% until the last hour of trade. Internet, software, networking and chip stocks all paced the rally. The S&P 500 gained 0.8%, the Dow 0.6% as NYSE volume also soared. Cable TV, airline, genetics and leisure services advanced. Small caps rallied for smaller gains. More on this page, B2

Factory Orders Fell 2.3% In Sept.
3But that was less than the 3% decline economists had forecast. And excluding volatile transportation orders, new orders for factory goods climbed 0.6%.
