The Nasdaq rallied 2.3% Friday, closing at the session's high on heavier trade for its fourth straight up week.
Pixar jumped 1.92 to a 52-week high of 52.95 on twice its average volume over the past 50 sessions. It finished up nearly 10% for the week. The stock and a detailed analysis of its daily chart were featured in Friday's WebLink, found on investors.com. The digital entertainment firm is slated to report third-quarter results Monday. Analysts polled by First Call see earnings up 517% to 74 cents a share.
Some specialty retailers had a good day. Cost Plus rose 1.17 to 30.07 on nearly twice its usual daily activity. The stock has been moving within a 24-point band since peaking at 40.50 in the end of 1999. Analysts see the better home-living items chain losing a penny per share in the October third quarter.
Maternity clothing chain Mothers Work gained 3.36 to 39.39, hopping above its pivot point of 39.20 on above-average volume.
