Economy Lost Jobs Again In Oct.
2Nonfarm payrolls fell 5,000 last month as unemployment ticked up to 5.7%. Economists expected a small rise in jobs and a jobless rate of 5.8%. Jobs were revised up for Aug. and Sept. Factory Sector Stumbled In Oct.
3The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index fell to 48.5, the lowest since Dec. 2001, a worrying sign the economy may be faltering entering Q4. The index stood at 49.5 in Sept.
