The Nasdaq edged up 0.2% on slightly higher trade Thursday.
Computer-related shares showed signs of newfound strength. Infosys Technologies moved up 1.11 to 71.55 on heavy volume. A monster stock from the fourth quarter of 1999 to its March 2000 peak of 375, the India-based computer services firm is 6% off its 52-week high of 76.20. Its Relative Price Strength Rating of 94 is 10th best in the Computer-Services industry group.
Hyperion Solutions raced ahead 1.93 to 27 on twice its 50-day average turnover. The stock lost more than 80% of its value in 2000 and struggled in 2001. But it's now close to posting a 52-week high.
The Silicon Valley software firm has increased its earnings 260% and 350% in the past two quarters. Sales, however, have grown no more than 2% or declined from year-ago levels for seven straight periods.
Pixar gained 1.06 to a new closing high of 51.03 on nearly double its average trade.
