The handheld computer market didn't stabilize last quarter as initially thought.
Instead of growing at an anemic 0.9%, worldwide unit shipments actually fell 2.4% year over year, according to revised figures from researcher Gartner Dataquest Inc.
The reason for the discrepancy? Gartner says earlier figures it received from Hewlett-Packard Co. were wrong. HP has since lowered its worldwide shipment numbers by 89,000 units, or 23% less than first reported.
