Software piracy up slightly in '01
The Business Software Alliance estimates that one in four applications installed on U.S. PCs in '01 were illegal copies, up 1% from 2000. That cost software firms $118 mil and put 111,000 out of work, it says. Piracy was highest in Mississippi at 48.7% and lowest in New York, with 11.9%.
