Albertson's dives on Q3 warning
It expects 47-49 cents a share as same-store sales drop 2%. Analysts forecast an 18% rise to 52 cents. Albertson's also cut Q4 goals. The warning fueled fears about Wal-Mart's growing dominance. The discount chain has become the No. 1 grocer, with megastores offering low-priced food and retail goods. Albertson's fell 19% to late '00 levels. Safeway slid 7% and Kroger 4%.

U.S. indicts Fastow on 78 counts
Charges against Enron's ex-CFO Andrew Fastow include fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. If convicted, he could face hundreds of years behind bars and millions of dollars in fines. The highest-ranking official charged in the federal probe of the bankrupt energy firm, Fastow is free on $5 mil bond.
