Eisner: 50-50 chance of CNN deal
Disney's CEO confirmed talks to merge the firm's ABC news with AOL Time Warner's CNN but said the chance of such a deal is "50-50 at best." Michael Eisner also said he would "reluctantly" sell the Angels baseball team and Mighty Ducks hockey team if the buyer agrees to keep them in Anaheim, Calif.
News Corp. to buy Italy's Telepiu
The media giant's buying the money-losing pay TV service from Vivendi Universal for $464 mil in cash and will assume $417 mil in debt. News Corp. will have an 80% stake in Telepiu. It'll combine Telepiu with its Stream pay TV service, which it co-owns with Telecom Italia, and call it SkyItalia.
** Spanish porn publisher Private Media Group withdrew plans to offer 6.5 mil shares, blaming market conditions.
