Congress To Vote On Iraq Policy
1Congressional leaders emerged from talks with President Bush saying they'll vote before the Nov. 5 election on a non-binding resolution on what to do about Iraq. Bush pledged to seek Congress' OK before taking action to oust Saddam Hussein. Bush will argue his case before the U.N. next week after a weekend Camp David meeting with Britain's Tony Blair. Ford Lags Detroit's Hot August
2GM's Aug. sales rose 18%, paced by a 27% rise in trucks and a 8% rise in cars. Daimler's Chrysler scored a 24% rise, with cars up 25% and trucks up 23%. Ford's Aug. sales grew 12%, led by cars, up 15%, and trucks, up 10%. GM will offer 0% loans on some '03 cars; Chrysler too. Markets Recover Some Losses
3 The Nasdaq rose 2.3%, putting a dent in Tuesday's 3.9% loss. The S&P 500 added 1.8% and the Dow 1.4%. Volume rose slightly across the board, but remained below average, continuing a six-week trend.
