The Nasdaq etched a lackluster session Friday, treading water most of the day on quiet pre-holiday volume before closing with a harsher sell-off. The composite index gave up 1.6%, ending the week down 4.8%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 2%, shedding 6.7% for the week.
Flir Systems dropped 1.19 to 37.95 on volume 51% above its 50-day average. The maker of thermal imaging and broadcast camera systems used for security and surveillance ran up sevenfold in 2001. The stock has been carving a new base since topping in early March, finding support at about 36.
ICU Medical skidded 2.10 to 36.21 on average trade. The maker of intravenous connection devices that reduce the risk of needle sticks and infection gave back all of Thursday's gains and then some. It's working on a somewhat V-shaped base, now nearly four months long.
