Heart On Her Sleeve

Medea Benjamin, wearing her T-shirt that read "No War On Iraq," shouted at President Bush and got her face in IBD (A1, Aug. 26). Overall, she just wanted to be heard, and this was her way of making contact.

Were I to take her approach, I would wear a T-shirt that said: "Wake Up, America: Ban Middle Eastern Immigration." I would wear T-shirts bearing statements that millions of Americans only think but would never utter out of fear of offending the politician, the immigrant, the quasi-American who has become soft and weak due to political correctness.

Curiously enough, my interest in crime prompted me to run the same regression as a class project. I looked at the same three variables, demographics, the economy (expressed as the unemployment rate) and the increase in the prison population.
