Britain, stung by suggestions that the U.S. may go by itself in attacking Iraq, set out disarmament conditions Wednesday that it hopes the United Nations will embrace in a new resolution.
Foreign Office Minister Mike O'Brien, who briefed Labor Party officials, said the "benchmarks" in a new draft resolution include:
** A television appearance by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in which he renounces weapons of mass destruction.
** Iraq to let 30 key weapons scientists travel to Cyprus to be interviewed by U.N. inspectors.
