Major League Baseball is throwing fans a new curve: live online video.

On Tuesday, the league began selling subscriptions for watching live games on the Internet. The move marks the first time a professional sports league has sold a season of live games for viewing on a personal computer.

Over the last few years, baseball has brought taped video and live audio of games to the Internet. Live video is just the next step, says Bob Bowman, chief executive of MLB Advanced Media LP, a company held by team owners.
