Callings are often misunderstood. They create the urge to do something significant in life -- to contribute in ways that benefit others and enhance the world.
A calling may require a transition in career, or take a person much deeper into whatever roles they already have -- turning doctors into healers, insurance salesmen into advisers in financial security, businesspeople into entrepreneurs, and managers into leaders.
"People go from thinking about making a living through their profession to thinking about giving back to the world through the positive impact their profession can make," said John Schuster, who wrote "Answering Your Call."
How do you discover your personal calling?
Some people have a genetic aptitude or talent so obvious that their answer to their call is to develop that talent or that aptitude to its fullest. Such was the case for Albert Einstein and Tiger Woods.
