The S&P 500 advanced 0.5% Friday, but still finished the week down 0.8%. The Dow industrial average edged up less than 0.1%. Harman International Industries advanced on heavy trade for a second straight session, rising 1.83 to 63.53. The maker of high-fidelity audio and video components was discussed in NYSE Stocks In The News on B6 Friday. This feature and its Nasdaq counterpart on B8 help readers identify potential stock winners. Russian cellular service provider MTS, also known as Mobile Telesystems, flew 2.45 to 42.76, clearing a long base on nearly three times usual volume. The stock has a Relative Price Strength Rating of 88 and an Up-Down Volume ratio of 2.0. Ukrainian Mobile Communications, that country's largest cellular telephone firm, approved the sale of a majority combined stake to MTS. The stake combines a 25% stake held by Ukraine's Ukrtelecom and two 16.33% stakes held by Royal KPN NV and Deutsche Telekom AG.
