OSI Systems rocketed after the 9-11 attack, posting a sevenfold gain between September 2001 and March 2002. It's now building the bottom of a 10 1/2-month base. It rose 12% last week but still has a ways to climb at 33% off its 52-week high. The X-ray inspection gear maker said Wednesday that second-quarter profit surged 133%, helped by stronger demand for its security technologies. It earned 28 cents a share, beating estimates by 4 cents. Sales jumped 45% to $43.7 million.
