Don't get duped by advance child tax credit scam.

If you are entitled to the $400 advance child tax credit being issued this summer (see your July 7 issue), you should be wary of a new tax scam targeting potential recipients.

However, the IRS recently warned that it has seen isolated incidents of a new scam in which a taxpayer received a telephone call from a person, promising to speed up the payment of the refund check, if the taxpayer agrees to a $39.99 charge on his or her credit card.
