Baseball expansion plan readies for final inning

For one thing, the weather could have been a bit better than a high temperature of 38 degrees registered on an overcast day.

And although it was nixed, it sounded like a good idea to pack Pilot Field with fans March 25 to show the National League Expansion Committee the level of support for major league ball in Buffalo and throughout Western New York.

But after the committee's 150-minute tour of the downtown baseball stadium and meetings with area officials and Buffalo Bisons owner Robert Rich Jr., the members said they liked what they saw.
