HAVING HAD the recent Gulf War placed under a media microscope, perhaps the time has come for an examination of the microscope. Unfortunately, an initial scrutiny suggests that the machine--at least the Australian model--shows serious flaws and there is no repair man in sight. Not only is the design flawed but the machine is covered with Vietnam-era verdigris and rust while the lenses are obscured by an overgrowth of anti-American mould.
