Ernst & Young Bags $1M From Tax-Exempt Hospitals

Accounting firm Ernst & Young dominates audit and consulting in tax-exempt hospitals in the Bay Area, according to hospitals' tax filings with the Internal Revenue Service.

Hospitals' tax forms list expenses for unnamed firms for items such as "professional services" and administrative services.

Tax-exempt hospitals, however, must list the five highest paid persons providing professional services. Even though the form specifies "persons" both individuals and companies are listed in the section. This section of the forms shows Ernst & Young the favorite tax and consulting firm among area hospitals. …
