ROME, GA.-Charleston put together a late rally for the second consecutive game but fell short as the Rome Braves defeated the RiverDogs, 5-3, on Sunday.

With the loss, Charleston (43-36 overall, 4-6 second half) had to settle for a split of the four-game series.

RiverDogs starter Jason Cromer (1-9) was again victimized by poor defense and a lack of run support. Two errors by backup third baseman Trae Duncan led to three unearned runs charged to the lefthander, who leads the South Atlantic League in losses despite a solid 3.26 earned run average.
