Massive protest hits Hong Kong
Half a million people hit the streets to protest a planned anti-subversion law. It was Hong Kong's biggest demonstration since the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre. Protesters fear the law will undermine freedoms of speech, press and assembly in the former British colony. Also, China's Communist Party celebrated its 82nd birthday with a plea from party chief Hu Jintao to "govern for the people's benefits."
