2003 JUL 2 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (BISP) announced that it has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army's Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) for the development of biodefense vaccines, including anthrax, Staph, and ricin.
The USAMRIID has agreed to grant BioSante an exclusive license to any U.S. patent application or issued patent as a result of the work under the CRADA.
The development agreement leverages the expertise of BioSante and USAMRIID to develop biodefense vaccines. Under the agreement, BioSante will provide the USAMRIID with BioVant, its proprietary nanoparticulate-based vaccine adjuvant, and delivery system, and the USAMRIID will provide recombinant antigens to be used in potential vaccines against various bioterrorism agents. The objective of the CRADA is to assess the immunogenic and reactogenic potential of BioVant when used with biodefense vaccines.
