They're back
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has launched another round of comprehensive exams of the 14 largest banks in the Southeast, including C&S/Sovran, NCNB, First Union, First Wachovia and Barnett.
This round of exams will focus on the banks' commercial loan portfolios and their trust departments. The OCC is scheduled to finish its exams by June, but officials say they may run into the summer.
