Porsche Cars North America will sell a Cabriolet version of the Carrera 4S for 2004, but the company is still mum on plans to offer a Turbo Cabriolet this year as well (AW, May 19). The all-wheel-drive 4S Cabrio, equipped with a standard 315-hp 3.6-liter flat six, stability control and all-wheel drive, arrives in October for $93,200. As in the '03 model, the '04 4S Cabrio will offer 911 Turbo components including suspension, 13-inch brakes, 18-inch wheels and power leather seats.
Latest Shelby adventure
Rampant rumors have Massachusetts-based replica-car maker Factory Five Racing considering buying its former nemesis, Shelby American.
David Smith, Factory Five co-owner, wouldn't comment on the potential purchase, but did say his company would be interested in any opportunities that are a good match.
Meanwhile, Carroll Shelby, who is caught up in efforts to save his company from the effects of bankruptcy proceedings involving its parent company Venture, says Shelby American is not for sale because there isn't anything to buy.
