Before Gil de Ferran wiggled from his Indy 500-winning car Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he cupped his hands around his face and released pentup emotion. Later, in a crowded pressroom, the usually reserved driver laid the tears on his mentor, Formula One great Jackie Stewart, who taught him to keep his feelings in the cockpit.
