Team Penske has a problem. Okay, not a big one. But team namesake Roger Penske said officials must decide whether to take Dallaras or G Forces to the June 9 race at Texas and beyond. Gil de Ferran won the Indianapolis 500 with a G Force; Helio Castroneves was just a tick back (actually 0.299 second) in a Dallara, which the team tested last month at Texas. "At this point we can't be taking two chassis to every race,'' Penske said. "We don't get the benefit of the cross-information.''
Nadeau improves
Jerry Nadeau has regained consciousness and has started speaking with his doctors, family, and members of his NASCAR race team. He was recently released from a Richmond, Virginia, hospital after suffering severe internal and head injuries in a May 2 crash at Richmond International Raceway. Those close to the situation say Nadeau was moved from Richmond to a rehab facility closer to his home near Charlotte.
Bentley finishes testing
Team Bentley ran its final endurance test before the Le Mans 24-hour. Bentley team director John Wickham described the test as "basically successful'' after a solo Speed 8 completed a 26-hour endurance run last month. All six Bentley drivers were present for the run at Paul Ricard. "We ran a 26-hour simulation over the course of three days and we had just a couple of minor problems, neither of which I would call car stoppers,'' Wickham said. Wickham said Bentley has overcome the underbody and fuel cell problems that caused delays during the team's previous endurance run at Ricard in April. He said a balky ...
