2003 JUN 12 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Getting a false negative because of an incorrect HIV formulation was among the many topics discussed by Gordon Dow at a presentation on vaginal topical microbicide development.
His program was hosted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in association with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dow's presentation was part of "Microbicides 2003," a 4-day workshop held in March at the Sheraton Four Points in Silver Spring, Maryland, by members of the Alliance for Microbicide Development. Highlights of this forum included recent scientific advancements in topical microbicides for HIV and other STDs; collaboration building among investigators in this field; and identification of future research that is critical to reaching product-development goals.
