The city school system's annual operating budget for next year will set two records one for tardiness, the other for putting more money into classrooms.
Schools can anticipate at least a $9 million increase in the money available to them next year, district budgetmakers said Wednesday.
The extra money for schools will be spent as they see fit, not as the district dictates, under a new budgetmaking process that started in August and has yet to produce a draft of the district budget.
Budget figures released Wednesday projected revenues at $464,382,378 million, up from $447,028,336 estimated for the current fiscal year ending June 30.
