2003 MAY 31 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Obese patients who have complications following gastric bypass surgery may avoid a second, often risky, surgery if interventional radiology procedures can be performed to treat these complications, a new study shows.
It is not uncommon for morbidly obese patients who undergo gastric bypass surgery to have complications, said Jinxing Yu, MD, of the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond. Leaks, abscesses, dilated excluded stomach, small bowel obstruction, and hernias are a few of the complications that can occur, he said.
