The Bath Jazz Festival could be subtitled "the Un-Blair Witch Project" such is its pro-Europe stance. This year the event runs from May 23-26 and features the cream of French, Norwegian, Italian and German improvisers. Pulse, the annual strand of jazz and world gigs at the South Bank Centre in London, staged by independent promoters Joyful Noise, has a cracking line-up this year.
