[1] Treat bedding like your wardrobe. "You don't have to buy a whole coordinated set and use it all together. Instead, mix and match pieces in different colors and patterns," says Tracy Porter, author of Tracy Porter's Home Style.
[2] Mingle materials. Your top and bottom sheets don't have to be the same fabric--play around to find the combo you adore. For instance, Porter says she loves the mix of a bottom sheet in cozy flannel and a crisp cotton sheet on top.

[5] A simplifying secret: You can ditch your top sheet and replace it with just a duvet. This setup works really well for lovin' because there's less to get tangled up in.
[6] Your pillows should be plush. Those filled with goose down are the poshest, but if you don't want to pony up for them (a single pillow can cost $100), get similar softness from one filled with a mix of down and regular feathers.
