Scion xB Stretch Limo
Hands down, our choice for Best in Show (if there was such a thing) or Wackiest in Show. This Scion xB is a domestic-market bB stretched in Japan into a full limo. Think of it as the best of both worlds: It has all the quirkiness of Scion's little box wagon mixed with the white-trash tasteful elegance of a full-blown American limo! We want to rent this for the prom!
Yes, that's art you see on the outside. Various artists brought together by Scion partner URB magazine lay protective plastic sheeting on the limo's sides and then have at it with their artistic expression. The sheets are then peeled off, mounted and put on exhibit at various galleries. The art we saw being done said, "Boycott Your LifeStyle No Time To Stop Thinking!'' We couldn't have said it better.
Now that's entertainment!
Yes, those are 31 little TV monitors and 39 speakers crammed into this 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, including one in the driver's footwell.
"You gotta drive with socks,'' said the AcceleVision booth guy.
With more than 120 AcceleVision monitors to choose from, there was just no other way. The system took Luther Sound Design six months to install, and the monitors cost about $35,000 retail, not counting installation. The monitors here range from 1.8 inches to 22 inches and when they're all going they eat up 3500 watts of power.
