The world since 9/11 is, in many ways, reminiscent of the struggle against Communism. Once again, Americans have witnessed ideological conflict on a global scale; militant antiwar demonstrations in U.S. cities; a Democratic party divided over national security; and, recently, National Review returning to its old role of defining the parameters of American conservatism.
