THANKS be to God, the religious groups are standing up to the politicians, opposing the convening of Congress into a constituent assembly to amend the Constitution. The Iglesia ni Cristo and El Shaddai, both of which count several million followers and which politicians always court for votes, have issued a joint statement against amending the Constitution. Cardinal Sin, a prince of the Catholic Church, although not opposed to amending the Constitution, is nevertheless against Congress doing it. He wants a constitutional convention. Let's face it, the men of God don't trust the present members of Congress.
