Taipei, May 8, 2003 (CENS)--Opto Tech Corp. said it would expand output of thermometer sensors to 500,000 units a month from 20,000 units now to relieve strained demand caused by fear of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) disease. Opto Tech president M.D. Lin said demand for his company's sensor devices last month alone outstripped demand throughout last year. To meet the surge in orders the company will expand its output capacity to 100,000 sensors by the end of this month by operating its plants in three work shifts. Opto Tech is the only supplier of sensor devices for thermometers in Taiwan
