Verizon cutting DSL price by $10
The No. 1 Baby Bell is aiming for cable broadband rivals, but may hurt AOL too. The new price, $34.95, is good for new customers and may be extended to current customers in a month. That price is about the same as AOL's dialup service, plus the cost of an extra line, and far cheaper than AOL's $55 broadband service. Verizon rose 2%; AOL fell a bit.
** Cable stocks fell on fears over the Verizon DSL price cuts. Comcast lost 4%, Cox 4% and Cablevision Systems gave up 3%.
