Kroll beats Q1, ups '03 over views
The corporate intelligence and security firm hit a new high intraday and closed up 9% to 24.32. It earned 28 cents a share, 4 cents over views and 180% over last year. Sales rose 87% to $104.8 mil, aided by acquisitions of Ontrack Data and Zolfo Cooper. Sales for its restructuring advisory unit grew fourfold to $39.4 mil.

Ex-Enron execs face new charges
The Justice Dept. announced new charges against former CFO Andrew Fastow and accused his wife, Lea Fastow, plus seven other ex-Enron officials of fraud and other criminal violations. The SEC also filed civil charges against five of the seven for alleged fraud to inflate the bankrupt energy firm's stock.
