Some investors can beat Wall St.
Some 20% consistently pick stocks that outpace the stock market as a whole, says an Ohio State University study. It looked at 113,000 accounts of large discount brokerages from '90-'96. This defies the commonly held view that individual investors are naive or foolish. The top 10% of investors beat the market by 38% a year. But 23% did poorly.
