Send The U.N. Packing
When I see the photo of the Cuban ambassador smirking after the uncontested re-election of Cuba to the Human Rights Committee (Issues & Insights, Wednesday), I wonder why we allow this fifth column in this country. We not only are their main support, but also we put up with their contempt and demeaning of our laws.
Why doesn't our government shut down the U.N. building (instead of building it another $1 billion edifice) and suggest it go to Europe? We should resign from the United Nations, and I cannot imagine why Congress hasn't suggested this action.
I am reminded of John Donne: "And I do nothing upon myself and yet I am mine own executioner."
