THE PBA said it was just part of a continuing probe of fake Fil-foreign players.
But the Senate announced yesterday it will conduct an inquiry to determine the extent of the drug problem in the Philippine Basketball Association.
The Senate stand came simultaneously with a PBA announcement yesterday that it will launch a crackdown on drug abusers in its ranks.
The Senate committee on youth and sports led by Sen. Robert Barbers has called for a probe to shed light on the drug mess following the ban slapped on Batang Red Bull star Jimwell Torion who tested positive for shabu.
Barbers, noting the extent of the PBA's influence on the youth, said they are initiating the probe on May 5.
