THE GAP between what a worker earns and what he and his family need to spend to survive on a daily basis has widened by almost 19 pesos, according to a militant group yesterday.
Citing a Department of Labor and Employment report, the group Anakpawis said that the daily minimum wage has remained at P280 (including the P30 Emergency Cost of Living Allowance).
But a family of six living in Metro Manila needs at least 557 pesos to survive daily. This is almost 19 pesos bigger than last year's cost of living, which was pegged at P538.18.
